Privacy Policy
Effective October 2, 2026
The short version: LiliPad Reading does not collect, store on servers, sell or share any personal information. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. Everything a family creates in the app stays on their own device.
Information kept on your device
To work, the app keeps the following only in its private storage on your iPad or iPhone:
- Reader profiles: a name, an age, an optional reading level, and an emoji or a photo chosen from your photo library. A chosen photo is resized and saved inside the app; the app does not keep its location or other metadata, and it can only see the photos you pick.
- Reading progress and settings: the words and sentences each reader has read, stars, places in each activity, and preferences such as voice and celebration sounds.
We (the developer) never receive this information. It is not backed up to any server operated by us. Removing a reader in the app deletes that reader's profile, picture and progress. Deleting the app deletes everything.
Microphone and speech recognition
LiliPad listens through the microphone only while a reading activity is open and listening is turned on, so it can check the words a child reads aloud. Recordings are never saved.
- By default, speech is recognized on the device using Apple's speech recognition, and audio does not leave the device.
- A grown-up can choose Apple speech service in Parent corner. In that case audio is sent to Apple to be transcribed, under Apple's Privacy Policy. It is not sent to us.
Spoken hints are generated by the voices built into iOS.
Children's privacy
LiliPad Reading is made for children and their families. Because we do not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13, there is nothing for us to access, share or delete on our side. Parents control all information in the app and can remove it at any time from Parent corner.
Third parties
The app contains no third-party advertising, analytics, social or tracking software, and it does not link to outside websites.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
